Police have arrested and charged a man after a string of ‘brazen, violent and dangerous’ armed robberies in Sydney’s inner west.
The 33-year-old was arrested at Edwards Street, Lilyfield around 2pm on Wednesday and taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with three counts of armed robbery.
It comes after detectives released CCTV vision of the man as part of investigations into the burglaries, which earlier saw two other men arrested and charged.
The third arrest comes after three businesses were allegedly ransacked in January in the inner west area - one leaving the shop attendant in hospital.
The first incident occurred on January 15 when two men armed with a knife and baseball bat allegedly stormed a business on Parramatta Rd, Annandale.
The robbers allegedly assaulted the shop attendant before fleeing with cash and the keys to a white Toyota Rav4.
The 31-year-old shop attendant was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
Just two days later, two men allegedly ransacked a business on East Street, Five Dock, threatening three staff members with a machete and axe before stealing cash and fleeing.
In a third incident on January 21, two men armed with knives allegedly entered a fast-food restaurant on Parramatta Rd, Croydon and threatened six employees before stealing cash and fleeing in a white Rav4.

A strike force was established into the robberies and two men - aged 24 and 26 - are now before the courts.
The third man has been refused bail and will front Central Local Court today.
Robbery and Serious Crime Squad Commander, Detective Acting Superintendent Grant Taylor, said the robberies put the community at risk.
“These robberies were brazen, violent and dangerous – and we want the community to know they will not be tolerated by police,” he said.
