Melissa Caddick: Police have identified remains on a beach last Friday

Police say the remains which washed up on a South Coast beach last Friday are human but they belong to a man, ending any chance of them belonging to missing fraudster Melissa Caddick.

More remains found on NSW South Coast

Police divers are expected to return to the waters at the base of the Dover Heights cliff to search for any remains of conwoman Melissa Caddick as her victims fear they’ll never find justice.

The 49-year-old vanished in November soon after her Dover Heights home in Sydney’s east was raided by Federal Police as part of an investigation into her financial services company which is believed to have fleeced investors of up to $25m.

Ms Caddick’s foot was found in a shoe 450km away on the south coast last week while other various remains have also washed up on beaches in the area.

A torso found at Mollymook Beach last Friday was on Tuesday confirmed as belonging to a man, while intestines found further north are yet to be identified.

After confirming the torso did not belong to a 39-year-old snorkler missing from Bateman’s Bay since January, police said they would consult the missing persons register in a bid to identify the mystery remains.

The confirmation, however, that the foot belonged to Ms Caddick was another blow for her victims.

“It’s just bad news after bad news, we don’t really know whether to believe that she’s dead, so far only a foot has been linked to her DNA,” one victim, who requested anonymity, told The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday.

“Knowing that she will not be jailed means no justice for us, we get no closure, she gets no comeuppance. Many of us wanted her to rot in jail.

“It’s all about her, it’s always been about her, even her death is about her, what about her son? He now has to live without a mother.

“Why did she have to kill herself if she did? She would’ve done several years in jail, would’ve lived a poorer life but her son would still have his mother and maybe, she could’ve told us why she did what she did to us?

“Now we will never know what motivated her, why she targeted us, what we did wrong to believe her?

“We just want her assets sold and our money back. Most of the assets in her name, we’re talking to our lawyer to see if it means we can get our money more easily now she’s dead or do we have to wait for more body parts to be washed up before we can get anything back?”

At the time of her disappearance extensive air searches around Dover Heights found nothing but another sweep around the cliffs will be done in the coming week.

“As a matter of thoroughness the divers will do more searching in the area,’’ a police spokesman said.

Police will also re-interview many of the people they have already spoken to.
