Mejid Hamzy shooting: CCTV footage captures final moments before death
Dramatic CCTV footage has captured the final moments in the life of jailed crime boss Bassam Hamzy’s brother as he runs from two gunmen after being shot outside his home.

A major manhunt for Mejid Hamzy’s killers has intensified with police releasing CCTV showing two gunmen in the moments before and after they carried out the shooting.
Hamzy, 44 — the brother of jailed crime boss Bassam Hamzy — was shot dead as he walked out the front door of his home at Condell Park, in Sydney’s southwest, on October 19.
Security footage from about 20 minutes after the shooting captured a black Mercedes being driven by a man who police believe is one of the men involved in the shooting.
On Wednesday morning police released more vision showing two other masked men jumping out of a grey Toyota RAV4, before running across the road to carry out the shooting.
Moments later the two men return to the same car and flee the scene.
The release of the CCTV comes as detectives from the Criminal Groups Squad began a canvas of an area in Moorebank where the black Mercedes was last seen.
Detectives went door to door along Selway Ave on Wednesday morning asking residents if they remembered seeing the black Mercedes in the days or weeks either side of the shooting.
Hamzy’s death is so far the pinnacle in the ongoing war between the Hamzy and Alameddine families.
His death came days after the feud escalated when an Alameddine foot soldier was bashed and a mobile phone stolen.
Over the months since there have been a string of tit for tat shootings resulting in one killing and one attempted murder.
NSW Police escalated their efforts against the two warring gangs after the near shooting of a nurse at Auburn Hospital in February.
The health care worker was left bleeding after a bullet shattered a hospital room window in the attempted drive-by shooting.
