A man has been charged after he allegedly broke into a Sydney CBD supermarket to satisfy a late-night craving for a packet of nuts.
Police will allege the man forced two sliding glass doors at the Woolworths on George St in the early hours of September 26.
In CCTV footage released on Thursday, a man is seen casually strolling towards a packet of half price, $2.50, nuts before taking them off a shelf and leaving the store.
Following a public appeal by police a 47 year-old man arrived at Marrickville Police Station at 8:15pm on Thursday and was arrested.
He was charged with one count of break, enter and steal and was granted bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on November 11 2020.
Woolworths’ website describes the 350g packet of nuts as “delightfully aromatic” with a “marvellous mix of wholesome crunchy nibble, garden peas, peanuts and juicy sultanas.”
The alleged break-and-enter caused $750 worth of damage.
At least three nearby 24/7 7-Eleven stores would have been open at the time of the incident.
