The vile child porn stash of Knox Grammar’s head of aquatic sports was discovered when he lost his phone while changing his clothes for a promotional video for the prestigious private school, it can be revealed.
The full story of how Nick Warby, of Bayview, was brought undone can be told for the first time after he pleaded guilty in the Downing Centre Local Court to one count of possessing child abuse material and was committed for sentence in the District Court.
The 31-year-old had a plum job as director of aquatic sports at Wahroonga’s Knox, which charges fees upwards of $32,000 a year, when a colleague found his phone next to a pool on campus and uncovered the horrific child abuse material in August.

“I’ve done wrong … I’m ashamed and I’m going to cop the punishment,” Warby told police after his arrest last year, agreed facts state.
The fact sheet states Warby was at the pool when he was asked to change his clothes so he could be filmed in a promotional video for the elite all-boys school on August 5.
However, when he went to change he accidentally left behind a mobile, which was picked up by a colleague. The employee looked through the phone to try to identify its owner when he noticed a number of disturbing images showing what he believed to be child abuse material.
Police were called and seized the phone as well as two more mobiles phones and two USB sticks from Warby’s car and home.
Officers uncovered hundreds of vile child abuse photos and dozens of videos on the devices, the contents of which are too graphic to print. One image is of a baby aged under two being sexually assaulted by an adult man.
After being arrested Warby told police he was attracted to males younger than himself. He said he obtained some of the videos on the USBs from a man from Cronulla called “Jay”, who he had met on the dating app Grindr.
Some of the videos were also YouTube downloads of boys swimming.
Warby will be sentenced in Downing Centre District Court in September.
