A woman who allegedly accepted thousands of dollars in donations after claiming she had terminal cancer has been charged with fraud offences.
Kaneesha Williams, 24, allegedly set up an online fundraising page in January this year claiming she had bowel cancer and been given just three months to live.
Williams allegedly raised $9000 through a number of fundraisers and community rallies across the state’s Riverina region, before claiming she had been cured.
In September, officers from the Murrumbidgee Police District commenced an investigation following reports of William’s activities.
Following extensive inquiries, the Darlington Point woman was charged with fraud offences including for four counts of dishonestly obtain financial benefit by deception.
She is due to appear at Griffith Local Court on Tuesday, February 2 2021.
