Two men have been arrested in relation to the ongoing feud between Sydney’s Hamzy and Alameddine families amid a major police operation targeting organised crime figures.
The operation, executed by Task Force Raptor, included raids on Sydney crime figures and outlaw motorcycle groups across NSW.
A 26-year-old man allegedly connected to Sydney organised crime faced charges after police allege he broke a Serious Crime Prevention Order 11 times.
The man was given the order by the Supreme Court in December, which prohibited him for associating with certain criminal groups.
Police arrested the man in Panania, and allege he was using an alternative address, multiple mobile phones and an alternative car to get around the SCPO.
A man in his 40s was also arrested on Friday after police revoked his parole.
The NSW man was arrested in Point Cook, Victoria and NSW Police are making arrangements for his extradition back to his home state.
A group of hundreds of Rebels Motorcycle Gang members on a “memorial ride” were also issued warnings after police broke up the gathering in the Batemans Bay area.
The Raptor Squad searched homes in Drummoyne, Greystanes and Merryland where they found $10,000 in cash.
Police said they would continue to crack down on gang violence and organised crime and return Sydney streets to law abiding citizens.
“We will come after you. We are going to lawfully harass those people who are engaging with organised crime,” Detective Superintendant Jason Weinstein said.
“If you’re a law abiding member of society you have nothing to fear from police. The streets belong to citizens, they don’t belong to organised crime,” he said.
