Slain underworld figure and “King of the Hamzys” Mejid Hamzy has been farewelled at a mosque in Sydney’s south west surrounded by a swarm of police and gangland identities.

Members of Sydney’s criminal underbelly joined family and friends of the 44-year-old at Lakemba Mosque to farewell the accused drug dealer after he was gunned down outside his Condell Park home on Monday.

Police trailed closely behind as mourners rolled towards Rookwood Cemetery, where Mejid was laid to rest just after 11:30am.

Notorious ex-Nomads bikie Mouddi Tajjour and a neighbour of Mejid are among those in attendance.

FUGITIVE SHARES ‘MUGSHOT’ AFTER HAMZY SHOOTING

It seems one of Australia’s most wanted men, Bilal Haouchar, doesn’t like the baby-faced image being used of him.

After the shooting murder of Sydney crime figure Mejid Hamzy in Condell Park on Monday, Haouchar, a known enemy of the Hamzy family, was on a long list of persons of interest.

The following day, a photo was sent to The Daily Telegraph showing the 35-year-old, currently hiding in Lebanon, holding two semi-automatic machine guns, attached to an email denying the speculation.

“Anyway if you run a story with this photo can you can call it ‘Merrylands Mafia’ do whatever the fk u want with it. stop recycling the old mug shots,’’ an email accompanying the photo said.

The email, believed to have been sent from a close associate of the fugitive, says suggestions Haoucher was involved in Hamzy’s shooting were wrong.

“U filthy sh*t stirring dogs try running stories with objective facts and not delusional chinese whispers f*** DT as a publication and as a motherf***ing crew bring…’’ it says among a string of expletives and misspellings.

The Telegraph last month published a photo of Haouchar eating kebabs with associates in Beirut under the headline “Killer Kebab”, one of the first images seen of him since a baby-faced mug shot from several years ago.

“Killer kebabs? my austistic auntie could have created a better title,” the email read before signing off “until next time dogs’’.

After his release from prison in 2018 police asked the Supreme Court to have Haouchar subjected to an ankle monitoring device because they believed he was still a threat to the community.

In September that year he failed to turn up to court and was believed to be in Dubai with bikie boss Mark Buddle.

He has since fled to Lebanon.

Arrest warrants were issued in 2018 for failing to meet the supervision orders and also for questioning in relation to a kidnapping and assault of a man in Merrylands earlier that year.

Police have not ruled out the murder of Mejid Hamzy was ordered from overseas but are also looking at it being potentially linked to a recent feud between two well-known families in Australia.

“There are still many lines of inquiry at this early stage of the investigation,” a police spokesman said.
