Brothers for Life boss, Farhad Qaumi, has been charged with stabbing an underworld figure and accused murderer while in Goulburn Supermax prison.
The 37-year-old convicted killer was in the day room and just taken out of handcuffs when he is alleged to have rushed at the other prisoner and slashed his face and neck with a makeshift weapon.
His alleged victim is a 31-year-old is awaiting trial for the triple murders of well known underworld figures in Sydney. His name is suppressed.
It’s alleged the fight between the men broke out at about 9.15am on May 20.
Qaumi allegedly had to be pulled off the other inmate who required medical treatment. Its alleged the victim also had a prison made weapon.
He was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, reckless grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and armed with intent commit indictable offence and will appear in Goulburn Local Court next Wednesday.
Qaumi was sentenced to 60 years in prison for his role as leader of the Brothers for Life Blacktown chapter which waged a bloody gangland war against its rival Bankstown chapter resulting in the murder of Mahmoud Hamzy in Revesby Heights in 2013.
He was also found guilty of organising the murder of underworld figure Joseph Antoun in the same year.
The alleged victim was a major underworld figure until his arrest a few years ago.
Qaumi’s lawyer, Simon Joyner, said he could not comment on the incident.
