A young police officer has died by apparent suicide, the 23-year-old officer’s body located in the Royal National Park in Sydney’s south overnight.

A young police officer has died by apparent suicide in Sydney’s south overnight.
Police have launched a critical incident investigation after officers were called about concerns for welfare of an off-duty police officer at 10.30 last night.
Following inquiries, the body of a 23-year-old officer from the Bankstown local area command was located in the Royal National Park about 12.40am today.
There appears to be no suspicious circumstances.
Detectives from the Homicide Squad will prepare a report for the Coroner.
The investigation will also be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and independently oversighted by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC).
Support services have been made available to his family, colleagues and to all NSW Police Force staff.
