Police will allege a man hid under roof insulation after allegedly tying up two people with chains, wire and rope in Sydney’s west.

A man who allegedly tied two people up with chains, wire and rope before holding them hostage will appear in court today.

Police will allege Tyran Izzard, 20, held a man, 28, and a woman, 38, captive in a home on Richard Crescent, Colyton, from Thursday to Saturday afternoon.

Officers went to the Western Sydney home for an unrelated matter and spoke with the pair about 4pm on Saturday.

Police will allege they were assaulted, tied up and detained by Mr Izzard who was armed with a firearm.

Officers will also allege they found Mr Izzard hiding in the roof under insulation before he attempted to escape, moving tiles and climbing onto the roof.

Police will allege a loaded, sawn-off shotgun was found in his car and methylamphetamine and cash were found in his pants.

Mr Izzard was charged with nine offences including assault occasioning bodily harm, possessing a prohibited firearm and detain to get advantage.

He has been refused bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
