Australia’s most wanted man, Comanchero boss Mark Buddle, has reportedly been captured by the FBI in an operation at the Cyprus border.

The Sydney underworld has been thrown into a spin with unconfirmed reports Australia’s most wanted man - bikie boss Mark Buddle - has been arrested by the FBI overseas.

High level police and criminal gang sources claimed the boss of the Comanchero bikie gang had been grabbed by agents at the Cyprus border.

The AFP, which has a live warrant for Buddle’s arrest, and NSW Police and the State Crime Command were trying to confirm the reports.

News Corp understands in the past week Buddle left his most recent safe haven, Cyprus, to travel to Germany to meet with a fellow international member of the gang. He was then going to travel back to Turkey where many other Australian fugitives are hiding out.

A senior NSW police officer told the Sunday Telegraph that most of Sydney’s underworld are aware of the arrests.

“We are hearing he has been grabbed, but have no confirmation ,’’ he said,

Two seperate underworld sources with strong connections to Buddle and members of the legal fraternity have said they have been told by overseas contacts that he has been detained.

The Commander of the Australian arm of the Comanchero bikie club fled Australia in 2016, when he was wanted for questioning over the murder of Armaguard security worker Gary Allibon.

The 44-year-old initially moved to Dubai, where he set up a new life with his glam partner Melanie Ter Wisscha, however was forced to leave last year, after video surfaced showing him fighting with tourists by a resort pool.

Since then he has been hopping from country to country, including Greece, Iraq, Turkey and Lebanon.

Last year he made front page news in Cyprus, with the Kibris Gercek newspaper claiming he met with high-ranking politicians who granted him a residence permit in Northern Cyprus until August 6, 2022.

NSW Police will allege Buddle - who has an estimated worth of more than $100 million - sanctioned the 2020 murder of underworld figure Mejid Hamzy following the theft of a 400kg cocaine shipment belonging to him.

Buddle, who was born in Sydney, grew up in a housing commission block at Maroubra, joined the Comanchero at a young age before quickly rising through the club’s ranks.

After then-leader Mick Hawi was jailed over a brawl at Sydney Airport in 2009, Buddle declared himself the boss.

That role was cemented in 2018 when Hawi was shot dead. Since then he’ dubbed himself “Commander of the World”.

Buddle was responsible for a vicious gang attack at Melbourne’s Spearmint Rhino strip club on King St in 2011.

He and clubmates jumped a group of labourers having a pre-Christmas party.

Buddle, then aged 29, stomped on one victim’s chest as the violence exploded.

One of his mates, David Gavelan, smashed a bottle over a victim’s head.

Buddle was identified because of his name tattooed on his chest and later pleaded guilty.

He told a court he suffered from a bad back because of uncomfortable prison beds and long trips in prison trucks.
