Two people have died in separate crashes on NSW roads overnight.
In the first crash, a woman was killed in a head-on collision involving a truck in Sydney’s southwest.
Emergency services were called to Devonshire Rd in Rossmore just before 7.15pm on Tuesday following reports of a collision.
Police arrived to find a semi-trailer truck and an SUV had collided head-on.
The SUV driver, a 36-year-old woman, died at the scene.
The truck driver, a 66-year-old man, was treated by paramedics for minor leg injuries and taken to hospital for further assessment and mandatory testing.
Local traffic diversions were in place for several hours overnight while police established a crime scene and began investigating the circumstances of the crash.
The road has since been reopened.
Less than 15 minutes earlier, a man died in a single-vehicle crash in the state’s north.
Emergency services were called to Bridge St in Lawrence at about 7pm after a vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a culvert.
Passers-by, including an off-duty police officer, attempted CPR on the 70-year-old driver before paramedics arrived.
Despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.
Police established a crime scene and have started inquiries into the circumstances of the crash.
Reports on both incidents will be prepared for the Coroner.
Police are urging anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage related to either crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
