Investigation underway after targeted shooting at Newcastle home

Police are investigating a shooting in Elermore Vale after shots were fired at a home and vehicle early this morning.

An investigation is underway after shots were fired at a home in Newcastle’s west on Wednesday morning in what police believe was a targeted attack.

Officers were called to Lake Rd in Elermore Vale shortly before 4.30am following reports of gun shots, which had struck the front of a house and a vehicle.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

A crime scene was established, and specialist police conducted a forensic examination. Newcastle City Detectives have launched an investigation into the incident.

Initial inquiries suggest the shooting was targeted, with police confirming there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Lake Road has since reopened, and traffic is unaffected.
