Three dead, several hurt in horror night on regional NSW roads
Three people have been killed and several others are in hospital after four major crashes on the state’s regional roads in the space of just four hours.

Three people have died and several others have been hospitalised, following a horror night of crashes on the state’s Central and North Coast.
A man in his 50s, a woman in her 20s and a 65-year-old woman were tragically killed on Friday evening, bumping the state’s road toll up to 235 for this year.
The first fatality tragically occurred just before 7pm last night, beginning a tragic night for officers from Brisbane Waters Police District.
Emergency services were called to The Entrance Road, Forresters Beach, following reports a sedan and ute travelling in opposite directions had collided head-on.
The driver of the sedan, a 53-year-old man, died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
The driver of the utility vehicle, a 30-year-old man, and his passenger, a 29-year-old woman, were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital in stable conditions.
Less than two hours later another crash occurred just 20 minutes away on Empire Bay Road.
Officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District attended and were told two vehicles travelling in the opposite direction collided head on.
The driver of one vehicle, a woman believed to be in her 20s, died at the scene.
The second vehicle left the roadway and was located down an embankment.
The driver, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was trapped for a short time before being released by Fire and Rescue NSW.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.
At 10.30pm, four vehicles collided on the Central Coast Highway at West Gosford, shutting the road down for several hours.
Officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District again attended and were told four vehicles had been involved in a nose-to-tail collision.
One of the drivers, a 76-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being flown to hospital in a serious condition.
A female driver, aged 40, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other two drivers were uninjured.
Further north near Lismore, a 65-year-old woman died at the scene of a single vehicle crash on the Bruxner Hwy at South Gundurimba.
Emergency services were called to the scene when a Volvo station wagon was found in a paddock about 8.30pm after it left the road and crashed through a fence.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding each of the crashes has commenced.
