Triple murderer Siar Munshizada jail fight with Stephen Stanley caught on CCTV

Already serving life for a trio of underworld killings, Siar Munshizada has returned to court for a violent altercation with a fellow prisoner. WATCH THE VIDEO.

Triple killer's jail brawl

The fight inside the walls of Parklea Jail only lasted 24 seconds, but will cost murderer Siar Munshizada an extra 11 months behind bars.

It is unlikely to bother him given he is serving three life sentences for a series of gangland assassinations as the lieutenant of a feared organised crime syndicate led by ex bikie Abuzar Sultani.

Munshizada confirmed the “dog eat dog” nature of prison culture when his explanation as to why he repeatedly punched Stephen Stanley in Parklea was aired in the Sydney District Court during his sentencing proceedings.

“You look like a weak target if you don’t defend yourself,” Munshizada told a psychologist.

“There was no time for negotiation, no walking away from the situation. I didn’t know what he was going to do and I wasn’t going to take the risk.”

The brawl took place when Munshizada, Stanley, and a group of other inmates were being led to the prison’s chapel on September 1, 2019.

No exact reason for the brawl was given. However, the court heard Munshizada thought “it arose” because of an earlier conflict between his fellow gang member, Joshua Baines, and Stanley at another prison.

Images of the fight can be revealed after Munshizada was sentenced to 11 months jail in the Sydney District Court on December 13.

It was four days before he was sentenced to three life sentences in the NSW Supreme Court for murdering underworld figures Pasquale Barbaro, Michael “Ruthless” Davey and Mehmet Yilmaz.

In the CCTV footage, Munshizada and Stanley appear to be talking to each other during the walk.

Munshizada, wearing a backwards cap, is walking with his hands behind his back. Stanley then gestures with his hand and the pair begin shaping up to each other.

Stanley swings with a right hook but misses when Munshizada ducks. Munshizada then replies with a right hook to Stanley’s face.

Munshizada then hits Stanley with several uppercuts before another prisoner intervenes, grabbing Stanley.

The brawl then goes outside the view of the CCTV camera. However, Judge Alister Abadee told the court Stanley ended up on the ground and it was unknown who stomped on his head.  The jury rejected Munshizada’s claim that he was acting in self defence and convicted him of affray.

Judge Abadee told the court he accepted Munshizada “has sustained hardship” after his solicitor Melissa Huseyin submitted an affidavit saying he had been “locked in his cell all day (for 21 days), save for 20 minutes when he was allowed out of his cell to call his family and legal team”.

There was also a period where Munshizada only had “controlled access to the exercise yard” on the condition he did not interact with inmates.

Stanley was sentenced to six months jail on December 14, 2020, after pleading guilty.

Judge Abadee said Munshizada’s longer term was because he inflicted a number of the blows on Stanley when he was being restrained by another inmate.
