Terekia Singapu charged with Ettamogah Pub assault, alleged victim Paul Griffin fights for life
The man accused of a pub assault in Sydney’s northwest that left a prominent businessman fighting for life has been identified as a carpenter.

A western Sydney carpenter is behind bars on remand after being charged over an alleged assault, which has left a businessman on life support.
Plumpton man Terekia Singapu, 43, has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and cultivating a prohibited plant, after an alleged altercation at the Ettamogah Pub in Kellyville Ridge on Tuesday night.
Police will allege Singapu — who is also known as Huo Kiri — assaulted Paul Griffin, 55, following a Melbourne Cup event, then left the scene.
Singapu was arrested the following morning and taken to Riverstone Police Station, where he was charged.
He did not appear in Blacktown Local Court on Thursday, when his lawyer requested an adjournment in order to obtain CCTV footage.
Singapu, who did not apply for bail, is yet to enter pleas.
Mr Griffin, the owner and operator of Griffin Air Conditioning in the Hills District, and a highly regarded member of the sporting community, remains in a critical condition in Westmead Hospital.
Close friends of Mr Griffin told The Daily Telegraph doctors had informed his wife Robyn and their adult children that he suffered catastrophic head injuries.
In a statement, police said that just after 8pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a licenced premises on Merriville Rd, Kellyville Ridge, following reports of an assault.
“On arrival, officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command were told a man had allegedly punched a 55-year-old man, leaving the scene prior to police attending,” the statement said.
“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man before he was taken to Westmead Hospital with critical injuries.”
The following morning, detectives arrested Singapu at a house in Glendenning.
Officers then executed a search warrant at a western Sydney house linked to Singapu.
“Following a search of a property in Plumpton, police allegedly located 36 cannabis plants and a hydroponic setup,” the police statement said.
“Officers also located and seized a number of items for forensic testing.”
Singapu has been remanded in custody to face court on November 21.
