Teenager rescued from wreckage after crashing into tree, two parked cars during police pursuit

First responders pulled a teenage boy from the wreckage of a car after he allegedly stole the vehicle, leading police on a wild pursuit in Sydney’s west.

A critical incident investigation is underway after a teenage boy was pulled from the wreckage of car after he allegedly stole the vehicle, leading police on a wild pursuit.

Police first noticed a car driving dangerously on Luxford Rd in Whalan just before 1am on Friday and attempted to stop the driver.

However, the driver – a 14-year-old boy – refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

The car, which is understood to have been stolen earlier that night, crashed into two unoccupied parked cars before colliding with a tree at high speed.

The 14-year-old was trapped for almost an hour, as emergency services worked to free him from the wreck.

The front of the car was crushed due to the force of the impact.

The teen was later taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established and on Friday afternoon, police declared the crash a critical incident.

“A critical incident team from Hawksbury Police Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a NSW Police spokesman said.

“The investigation will be subject to an independent review.”
