Two women are in hospital after police allege their partners tried to kill them in separate domestic violence attacks just 12 hours apart.
Both incidents occurred inside homes in Sydney’s west, leaving the women with serious injuries.
Twenty-three-year-old Rupa Thapa was taken to Auburn Hospital late on Thursday evening, after her partner Prajwol Basnet allegedly tried to strangle her in their apartment.
Basnet was taken to Auburn Police Station, where he was charged with attempt to strangle / suffocate with intent to murder and wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm.
Less than 12 hours later, police arrested a 59-year-old Van Vi Lam, after he allegedly attacked his partner Cuc Thu Lam at their Cabramatta home, leaving her with serious injuries to her neck, hands and leg.
Police were called to their home on Angelina Crescent around 11.30am following reports of an assault.
Ms Lam was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Her husband was taken to Bankstown Hospital for a mental health assessment under police guard.
He has been charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent to murder and a Provisional Apprehended Domestic Violence Order has been applied for.
Both men will appeared before Parramatta bail court on Saturday, before their cases was adjourned for mention next week.
