Teenager accused of impersonating police in Sydney’s west

A teenager is accused of impersonating a police officer, threatening people with a knife and attempting to force a woman to stop her car.

A teenager who allegedly impersonated police will face court after being accused of dangerous driving and threatening two people with a knife.

Police said in a statement the 17-year-old old impersonated a police officer on two occasions on May 20.

He is accused of activating red and blue flashing lights while driving on Carlisle Ave, Bidwell with another male before allegedly attempting to force a woman to stop her car and place her hands on her head.

She quickly realised the males were not police and drove off.

The teenager and his passenger followed the woman to Woodstock Ave, Mt Druitt.

The pair is then accused of driving aggressively behind another vehicle 20 minutes later before activating the flashing lights again on Carlisle Ave.

According to police, the 31-year-old driver pulled over before the teenager and his passenger donned face coverings and went to the man’s window allegedly armed with a knife.

Like the woman, once the driver realised the men the pair were not police officers he drove off.

The teen and his passenger followed the man, allegedly driving recklessly, to Mimka St Whalan before getting out of the car allegedly brandishing a handgun and knife.

The pair ran away when other people left their homes to come to the 31-year-old man’s aid.

Almost a month after the ordeal, the police came knocking.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested in Fairfield on Wednesday. He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with impersonating a police officer and exercise powers and functions, drive a motor vehicle while licence suspended, and drive recklessly and furiously or speed manner dangerous
