The teenager accused of fatally stabbing his friend in a pre-arranged fight on the state’s Central Coast has been granted bail.

The 13-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his friend multiple times in the chest on Tuesday night.

He fronted court on Wednesday, where he was granted bail with strict conditions including that he live with his father in Avalon Beach, report daily to police and does not contact the victim’s family.

It comes as a friend of a teenager stabbed to death on the Central Coast said the attacker and victim were mates who had agreed to meet up for “a fight” in a series of texts before the fatal incident.

Zane Le Mesurier, 14, was at home with his brothers when his school friends called him saying their friend had been stabbed and was screaming for help on Langford Dr at Kariong on Tuesday night.

The 13-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, died with multiple stab wounds to his stomach. He was found just metres from Kariong Public School with blood stains still visible on the concrete on Wednesday morning.

Triple-0 was called as onlookers performed CPR and desperately tried to save the teenager. He was flown to Gosford Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.

The alleged attacker raced home when he realised what happened before his mum emerged from the home in shock.

Zane, a Kariong Mountains High student, says the victim and attacker were friends who, he was told, had agreed to meet.

“They were friends and I don’t know what happened, they just didn’t like each other”.

“They just had beef or something.”

The alleged attacker was on Wednesday morning charged with murder with bail refused. He is due to front The Children’s Court.

Zane paid tribute to his friend, remembering him as a kind person with a good sense of humour.

“He was funny, nice and caring.,” he said.

His mother Sam Le Messurier is still reeling from news of the death, with the victim having visited their house to play with her son several times.

“It’s horrible. I still can’t understand why. It feels like a dream,” she said. “It could have been my kids.”

“The whole community is going to be upset. It’s horrible.”

Two local residents, who did not wish to be named, saw paramedics working on the young boy for almost 40 minutes before he was stable enough to be taken to hospital.

“They were performing CPR for a while until they had him stable and then took him away,” they said.

“A young girl was screaming and then her parents came. The screams were chilling. She was wailing and you could hear her hyperventilating.”
