Two more men charged over the kidnapping of Stuart MacGill

Stuart MacGill has been seen in public for the first time after bombshell allegations emerged in court that the former Test cricketer facilitated cocaine deals at his Sydney restaurant.

Police allege in court documents that the 50-year-old was kidnapped and ordered to hand over $150,000 in April 2021 in relation to a drug deal that had soured.

A barefooted MacGill was seen picking up two bags of belongings from a woman outside his Cremorne apartment before returning inside on Sunday morning.

Officers have said publicly MacGill is an innocent party, but a court heard last week that he allegedly helped arrange cocaine deals at his Neutral Bay restaurant, Aristotle’s.

The claims against MacGill were aired in Central Local Court when a man charged in connection to the alleged kidnapping, 19-year-old Vaeluagaomatagy Feilo, applied for bail.

Defence lawyer Kiki Kyriacou, acting for Felio, told the court that MacGill’s credibility would be called into question when the matter goes to trial.

Mr Kyriacou said three statements had been served by police, written by witnesses, who would give evidence that MacGill put them in contact with a cocaine dealer called Sonny.

“And on occasions they would meet Sonny at (MacGill’s) restaurant to purchase cocaine,” Mr Kyriacou told the court.

This was a reference to Aristotle’s, which MacGill managed and was owned by his partner Maria O’Meagher.

O’Meagher is not linked in any way to any of the allegations against MacGill or others.

Feilo was granted bail.

He and others remain before the courts in relation to the alleged kidnapping.

The brother of MacGill’s partner, Marino Sotiropoulos, was also charged over the alleged kidnapping.

It is alleged MacGill introduced Sotiropoulos to Sonny before a dispute over a cocaine deal broke out.

Sotiropoulos allegedly tried to extract money from MacGill as he had introduced the pair, according to police.

He denies being involved in the alleged abduction.

MacGill has not been charged with any offence.
