Strike Force Raptor continue to hound members of the Alameddine and Hamzy crime families as they attempt to suppress any further bloodshed on the streets of Sydney in the ongoing gang war.

Highway patrol officers attached to the elite squad are conducting constant operations around suburbs known to be frequented by members of both groups.

At 6.30pm on Thursday, Raptor officers stopped a silver Mitsubishi 4WD wagon at Fairmount St in Merrylands and spoke to the driver, 28-year-old Ali Elmoubayed, and his 31-year-old male passenger.

Police established that the older man was subject to a firearms prohibitions order and the vehicle was searched.

Officers seized three clear resealable bags, believed to contain 2.6g of cannabis. Another three bags were also located underneath a nearby parked vehicle.

The men were deemed to have been in breach of the Public Health Order and were issued a warning and a move-on direction.

At 12.45am, police stopped the Mitsubishi at Railway St in Parramatta, and spoke with the driver again who was in the company of Jihad Alameddine, aged 28.

Elmoubayed was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of not complying with a noticed direction regarding Covid-19, possessing a prohibited drug and failing to notify a change of residential address as prescribed.

Elmoubayed was bailed to appear at Fairfield Local Court on August 9.

Police said both passengers would be issued $1000 fines for breaching health orders.
