Street brawl preceded double killing of Toufik and Salim Hamze in Guildford

A group of Alameddine members were allegedly involved in a brawl just weeks before a Hamzy rival was shot dead on the very same street.

Gangland father and son shot dead in shocking Guildford assassination

A group of Alameddine members allegedly tried to force an associate to give up information about a Hamzy rival who was his neighbour, just weeks before a teenage gangster and his father were shot dead on the very same street.

Trent Jeske and two other associates allegedly rolled into Osgood St at Guildford on September 5 last year and visited the home of another alleged crime clan member.

Police allege while there a “brawl” broke out, leading other residents on the street to call Triple-zero.

The Daily Telegraph can now reveal police allege the fight occurred because the Alameddine associate who lived on Osgood St resisted giving up information about his rival neighbour.

On October 19 – just six weeks later – Salim Hamze, 18, and his father Toufik, 64, were shot dead in broad daylight. It is not alleged Jeske or any Alameddine associate were at all involved in the double homicide.

The revelation came from documents tendered in Parramatta Local Court last week when Jeske was told by a court his bail could not be altered for him to go on a family holiday with his mother, brother, nieces and nephews.

“Investigators suspect the affray is because of an ongoing feud in southwest Sydney between the Alameddine OCN (organised crime network) and Hamzy OCN,” the documents state.

“A well known member of the Hamzy OCN lives on the same street.

“(Police believe) the affray is a result of Alameddine not providing information about the Hamzy OCN member.”

When approached regarding the NSW Police claims, Jeske’s solicitor Abdul Saddik – who has represented high-profile clients including Tarek Zahed and Bassam Hamzy – said he would not comment as the matter was still before the courts.

Despite outrage from politicians and police when he was initially granted bail despite allegedly being found in possession of a gun, Jeske’s application to have his bail relaxed so he could go on holidays was refused in court last week.

Mr Saddik told the court that Jeske wanted to go on a “family holiday … alongside his mother, brother, wife and their two children”.

“This is a family holiday, not a holiday with members of any sort of network,” he told the court.

“Considering Mr Jeske has been obedient to his bail conditions he would continue being obedient to his bail conditions and appear in court on the next occasion.”

But Magistrate Cate Follent found that the seriousness of the allegations against Jeske meant that even in the company of his mother, brother, sister-in-law and nieces and nephews, the risks to the community could not be “mitigated”.

“The defendant is suspected of being a member of a criminal organisation,” Magistrate Follent said.

“The alleged affray the subject of the charge is thought to be related to gang activity and conflict between gangs in southwest Sydney.”

“The proposed conditions could not mitigate what the court regards as the risk to the community.”

Jeske is due back in court on February 1 for the latest appearance of the firearm, affray and other related charges, as well as a fresh charge of allegedly driving while under the influence of drugs.
