A Star Casino dealer accused of helping another man cheat at Roulette to swindle almost $25,000 has fronted court for the first time.
Tyrone Martinez, 23, appeared at Downing Centre Local Court on Friday after he was charged with facilitating conduct that corrupts betting outcome of events and obtaining or attempting to benefit in a casino by dishonest means.
He is yet to enter pleas.
However, the alleged cheater, Daniel Kingi, 22, pleaded not guilty to engaging in conduct that corrupts betting out of event and obtaining or attempting to benefit in casino by dishonest means.
Police allege in court documents that Martinez, in his role as a Croupier at the Star Casino, facilitated Kingi to cheat at Roulette “knowing the said conduct corrupted the betting outcome … with the intention of obtaining a financial advantage” between September 25 and October 13 last year.
It is alleged the benefit amounted to $24,950 and Martinez allowed Kingi to cheat by past post betting.
A police statement previously outlined how an investigation in October last year identified a Sydney casino dealer and another man allegedly worked together to rig roulette bets.
The two men were issued future court attendance notices with detectives alleging the men would move bets after the roulette result had occurred.
Martinez will return to court later this month with Kingi’s matter adjourned to January.
