Terrifying new details have emerged about the alleged contents of Fraser Alexander Thomson’s backpack when he forced his way into his ex-girlfriend Lauren Salamakis’ home on Tuesday morning.

Police said Thomson was also wearing a wig and a Covid mask when he entered the home at 2.30am and repeatedly stabbed Ms Salamakis’ ex-husband Paul Salamakis, 39, who was sleeping on a downstairs sofa.

Thomson was on bail when he allegedly breached an AVO protecting his ex-lover - repeatedly stalking her before he broke into her home armed with a knife and carried out a frenzied stabbing, police allege.

The 41-year-old was due in court on Tuesday charged with five counts of stalking his on-and-off-again girlfriend Lauren Salamakis, 35, and breaching a domestic AVO.

But just hours before the senior executive was expected to appear in Parramatta Local Court, police allege Thomson broke into Ms Salamakis’ Kellyville home, about 2.30am, and repeatedly stabbed her ex-husband Paul Salamakis, 39, who was sleeping on a downstairs sofa.

Police told The Daily Telegraph Thomson was arrested and refused bail a fortnight ago when he allegedly turned up at the same woman’s home on August 8, despite a court order banning him going near her.

Thomson spent a week in prison on remand until a magistrate gave him bail on August 13.

Police allege Thomson turned up unannounced at Ms Salamakis’ home yesterday and startled Mr Salamakis who had started sleeping at the house to protect his ex-wife.

CCTV from a neighbouring house captured a man, police will allege is Thomson, creeping around a house in Oakwood Place carrying a black backpack, before he allegedly forced his way inside.

Detective Superintendent Darrin Batchelor confirmed there was a current AVO in place preventing Thomson from being at the house, which had allegedly been breached a fortnight ago.

“We will be alleging that person was going to the house to do harm, ” he said.

Mr Salamakis, a well-known cafe owner in Sydney’s western suburbs, suffered lacerations to his upper arm and was treated at Westmead Hospital for his injuries.

Police said Thomson suffered wounds to his hands from the same knife, and was yesterday in hospital under police guard.

Upon being discharged from hospital, Thomson was charged with break and enter dwelling and assault with intent to murder, break and enter dwelling and inflict GBH on any person, special aggravated Break and Enter and commit serious indictable offence-wound, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO.

Detective Superintendent Batchelor said Ms Salamakis, a speech pathologist, was shaken from the altercation but not physically harmed.

She remained inside the home yesterday, being comforted by a steady stream of visitors who arrived to check on her after the traumatic incident.

Court records showed Ms Salamakis first applied for an AVO against Thomson in 2021, which was enforced for two years, until May 2023.

Another AVO was then put in place in June this year.

A neighbour told The Daily Telegraph he had seen a man matching Thomson’s description in the street multiple nights prior to the alleged stabbing.

“He’s been around last Saturday and the Saturday before that,” the neighbour said.

The neighbour claimed Thomson and Ms Salamakis had an “on again off again relationship”.

He said Thomson had once told neighbours about his plans to build a new property where he, Ms Salamakis and her children would have their “fairytale life”.

“He (Ms Salamakis’ ex-husband) has been staying more often.”

Ms Salamakis owns and runs a speech pathology business in the city’s north west.

On the business website, it says Ms Salamakis has extensive experience working with school aged children, their families and teachers on a variety of communication difficulties, and she is particularly passionate about helping children with autism.
