A Sydney gossip podcaster will fight allegations she breached an apprehended violence order sought by a former reality show contestant she had accused of faking her own death.
Dannii Erskine, who appeared on the Seven Network’s Bride and Prejudice in 2019, took out an apprehended violence order against So Dramatic podcaster Megan Pustetto in Victoria earlier this year, which was subsequently registered in NSW where Pustetto resides.
Eastern Suburbs police have subsequently charged Pustetto with two counts of contravening an apprehended violence order dating back to January.
In 2023, Pustetto had published multiple podcast episodes and articles detailing allegations a person purporting to be Erskine’s sister Dee had claimed Dannii had died in a car crash.
Erskine later came forward and revealed she was very much alive, and the death allegation was a result of her Instagram being hacked.
The Daily Telegraph does not suggest Pustetto’s allegations of Erskine faking her death are true, only that they were made in the podcast and on her website.
At Waverley Local Court on Wednesday, Pustetto’s solicitor Phoebe Macdougall entered pleas of not guilty to both charges on her behalf.
Magistrate Michael Barko adjourned the matter to September 25 for a brief status mention, with a hearing date for next year expected to be set on that day.
Documents tendered to the court on Wednesday provide scant details about the allegations against Pustetto.
Police will allege Pustetto twice breached the apprehended violence order – in a manner unspecified – at 6am on January 6 this year, and at 5am on January 9.
Under the terms of the order, Pustetto was not to have any contact with Erskine.
In a question-and-answer session on her Instagram earlier this year, Pustetto spoke about her role as a gossip blogger.
The So Dramatic podcast is well known for its dispatches about shows including Married At First Sight Australia and Farmer Wants A Wife, along with exhaustive updates on the lives and times of contestants-turned-influencers.
“It is stressful but there are so many positives, I love helping people who don’t have a voice share their stories,” Pustetto wrote.
“I love getting the truth out and uncovering injustices, I love being the first to break a huge exclusive.”
