Senior bikie Tarek Zahed’s horrific injuries from assassination attempt revealed in mugshot

A police picture of bikie Tarek Zahed reveals the extent of his shocking injury in an assassination attempt inside a Sydney gym.

With just one piercing eye looking at the camera and the other missing, this is the photo that shows the shocking injuries suffered by ex bikie boss Tarek Zahed in an assassination attempt.

Despite taking at least one bullet to the head, Zahed miraculously survived the shooting inside Auburn’s BodyFit gym in May, 2022, in the gangland hit that claimed the life of his brother Omar, 39.

One of the more than 20 bullets fired by the two gunmen took out Zahed’s right eye and the 42-year-old spent months in hospital.

Doctors were stunned by his recovery but, after being released from hospital, the ex sergeant at arms of the Comanchero bikie gang was arrested in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs on August 28 last year and charged over a 2014 gangland murder.

This mugshot was taken the day of the arrest and shows Zahed missing an eye and scarred about the head.

His nose and the left side of his head are bandaged, but it is not known if these were from the gym shooting or inflicted by police during his arrest.

Photos from the arrest scene showed a handcuffed Zahed sitting with his head wrapped in a white bandage.

Police reportedly fired bean bag pellets through the rear passenger side window of a black BMW before arresting Zahed.

Zahed is accused of murdering underworld figure Youssef Assoum by stabbing and shooting him inside his Volkswagen Touareg at Yagoona in December, 2014.

But the case against Zahed hit a hurdle with prosecutors admitting in the NSW Supreme Court this month they do not have enough evidence for a trial. They were given a three-week deadline to firm up their case.

Just days before the arrest, Comanchero president Allan Meehan shared a picture of Zahed on social media wearing sunglasses and looking like he had recovered, captioned: “Welcome back Tarek ‘hard2kill’ Zahed.”
