A convicted paedophile has allegedly been recorded on camera engaging in a series of gross sexual acts with his girlfriend’s dog.
Ryan Billingham was arrested in January and charged with bestiality offences after police discovered a trove of home videos allegedly shot by his girlfriend, Aneisa Basalama, also know as Aneisa Muscat, showing him having sex with a female bull mastiff inside their Young home.
Basalama is not accused of participating in the alleged physical acts but has been charged with producing bestiality material and aiding and abetting Billingham in committing the offences.
Details of the disturbing accusations against the pair came to light last month as Billingham faced the NSW Supreme Court seeking to be released from custody on bail.
Court documents reveal Billingham had recently finished a stint on parole after serving jail time for child sexual abuse when officers arrived at his home on January 29 for a surprise inspection under NSW child protection registry legislation.
Billingham allegedly told the officers to go away, however he eventually allowed them entry into the home and produced his own mobile phone.
An inspection of the device allegedly uncovered videos depicting Billingham having sex with the female mastiff.
It is alleged a distinctive tattoo on the 28-year-old’s wrist - a Pokemon character smoking a bong - was visible in some of the videos, as was specific furniture and homewares seen throughout the house.
According to court documents, police allege the videos show Basalama “smiling and watching the accused have sex with her dog”.
Although she does not partake in the alleged activity herself, police claim at no time during the videos does “the co-accused attempt to stop the accused from committing the offence and causing harm to the animal”.
Police arrested Billingham and Basalama, who was allegedly found hiding naked in the bathroom with a number of dogs, including the one allegedly depicted in the videos.
The pair was taken to Young Police Station but declined to be interviewed by detectives.
The court heard it is alleged a subsequent download of their phones uncovered more disturbing and explicit videos of a similar nature.
In some of the videos, Basalama was allegedly recorded “moaning” and encouraging Billingham to abuse the dog, while in another she is allegedly overheard praising the dog, saying “good girl, do you want to have a little snack, a little treat after this? We’ll give you lots of snacks, you’re such a good girl”.
Billingham’s legal team conceded in court that the case against him was a strong one and that he would likely be sentenced to full time jail if found guilty of the offences.
However, they said he would agree to strict conditions if granted bail, including seeking mental health treatment for depression and anxiety and not associating with or contacting Basalama, who is also on remand.
Justice Tim Faulkner SC refused to release Billingham, noting the strength of the case against him and his poor history of complying with previous court orders.
Both Billingham and Basamala’s cases will return to court in September.
