Police are investigating whether an overnight blaze at a home in western Sydney is linked to the ongoing feud between Sydney rapper Ali “Ay Huncho” Younes and a supporter of rival rap group OneFour.
Younes, 27, was sitting at a table in a room waiting for visitors at Parklea Correctional Centre at 9am on Wednesday when it is alleged Sesita Lyzwa, 31, saw him while he was on his way to visit his brother Alexen, who is involved with OneFour.
It is alleged that Lyzwa and Younes got into a fight, before other visitors became embroiled in the melee.
Corrective Services officers were required to intervene.
Then, in the early hours of Friday morning emergency crews rushed to the home of Lyzwa’s mother in Willmot where they found a car fire in the driveway.
Police said the Holden was destroyed and an investigation is now underway to determine whether the two incidents are linked.
Tensions between the pair first erupted last November, when Lyzwa and Younes were caught on CCTV in an altercation at a Westfield shopping centre where several others were present.
CCTV footage showed the two men involved in a conversation at the valet parking desk of the Westfield in Sydney’s west.
The confrontation then escalated outside, where Lyzwa was hit in the face by an unknown man, not Younes.
Lyzwa, who is also a rap musician and goes by the name of Radistarz, was arrested by State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad over Wednesday’s incident on Thursday night and was being questioned by police.
He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with affray, refused bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court on Friday.
In a statement, NSW Police confirmed officers from Riverstone were called to the jail just after 9.30am, but said the investigation had since been handed over to the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad.
“Officers from Riverstone Police Area Command attended and were told that a 27-year-old inmate had reportedly been assaulted by a visitor,” a police statement said.
“The 31-year-old man was detained by correctives officers before being interviewed by police.”
CCTV of the incident is now being reviewed with a number of witnesses interviewed.
OneFour hails from Mount Druitt, considered one of Sydney’s toughest suburbs.
Younes grew up in Merrylands in southwest Sydney, is known to be friends with members of the Alameddine family and has a cult rap following in the area.
Last week, Younes was refused bail and is now on remand over allegations he was involved in a kidnapping and bashing of man in Granville last year.
OneFour has been in regular conflict with NSW Police and have had tours and shows cancelled after Raptor Squad detectives advised venues of the potential risks of violence at the group’s live concerts.
NSW Police have also previously said they would contact social media platforms and music streamers about having some of the group’s songs removed because police allege they incite violence.
