Police are investigating if a man met a woman on an online dating app before he allegedly murdered her inside his parents’ western Sydney home.
Isaac Costa has been charged with murdering his lover Anastasia Slastion in an alleged domestic violence incident after her body was found at his parents’ house in Greystanes on Saturday.
Originally from Russia and a software engineer, Ms Slastion had moved to Sydney in October 2022 on a working visa.
Costa’s family members claimed to Channel 9 on Sunday that they did not know Ms Slastion well but that the pair were engaged after dating for only a few months.
Police are now looking into if they first met on an online dating app.
Costa, 28, who was arrested at the Greystanes home, faced Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday and did not apply for bail.
At one point his father Clem stood up inside the courtroom and told his son he loved him.
Costa’s matter will return to court in April.
Ms Slastion, aged in her 30s, appeared to be living it up during her adventure down under, posting photos on social media of her partying at swish pool club The Ivy and visiting Balmoral Beach.
Neighbours previously said they heard yelling coming from the Greystanes home in the early hours of Saturday.
“It was a lot of yelling and screaming … then police arrived,” they said.
“IT was one of those ones where I was half asleep, but I was so worried for my neighbours. It was like a screaming fit.”
The home is owned by Clem Costa, a successful landowner who recently sold other properties in the street.
Clem Costa is not accused of any wrongdoing.
