They were the chilling words allegedly said to gangster Samer Marcus before he was shot eight times in what police are calling an “execution-style attack”.

“Remember me from jail, c …? You dog,” the alleged shooter said before unloading the shots, according to police documents tendered to Central Local Court.

Marcus didn’t see who was hiding in the shadows on the driveway of his Denham Court property in southwest Sydney before the figure emerged to shoot the senior member of the gang known as DLASTHR (The Last Hour) on November 6, 2020.

But according to the documents, police allege they were spoken by Luke “Fatboy” Sparos.

Sparos, a convicted drug dealer, was refused bail on Thursday after being charged with the attempted murder of Marcus.

Marcus is paralysed from the neck down and wheelchair bound as a result of the attack, which occurred in front of his wife.

Detective Superintendent Jason Weinstein this week alleged Sparos was motivated by revenge over the alleged shooting. This stemmed from a 2019 incident in Kempsey Jail where Marcus allegedly stabbed Sparos, the officer said at a press conference.

“What we understand is the two individuals were known to each other and were actually close friends inside the correctional facility,” Det Weinstein said.

Det Weinstein said, in reference to Marcus’ shooting: “It’s been planned and laid out.”

The motive for the stabbing is unknown, with Sparos understood to have refused to talk to authorities.

Sparos, 40, was arrested near his Surry Hills home.

He was also charged with evidence tampering after he allegedly tried to destroy his phone.

At the time of the arrest, Sparos was still on parole after being released from jail over his leading role in a high-profile cocaine operation known as the “Golden Gun” syndicate.

Police allege Sparos carried out the shooting himself and that CCTV footage showed him running through a field after the shooting and into a stolen black BMW M4, which was used as the getaway car.

Maroubra man Stanley Ceissman, 29, was charged with stealing the car from Lilyfield and was refused bail.

Police allege Sparos had his phone turned off for the duration of the shooting and washed his clothes immediately after returning home at about 2.30am.

Det Weinstein said he remained “fairly confident” that there would be further arrests over the shooting.

It marked the second time Marcus had been shot in 2020.

In June, he had a bullet lodged in his head for three days after he was shot in Bonnyrigg Heights.

In 2016, the NSW Supreme Court heard DLASTHR was a violent crime gang that controlled the Fairfield area.

Sparos will face Campbelltown Local Court on July 1.
