A member of the Assad family was the target of a home invasion on Sunday night that saw three armed men burst into his house – the same address where his brother was killed in 2016.
Walid “Wally” Assad was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition after allegedly being attacked by the three men when they burst into a granny flat of his Georges Hall home about 4am.
It is the second time in two years Assad has been the target of a home invasion, after a similar incident back in 2022.
On that occasion he was on a TikTok live stream, with hundreds watching on as the incident unfolded in front of them.
The Assad family has long been a well-known name ever since Hamad “The Executioner” Assad was shot dead outside the same home on Sturt Ave on October 25, 2016.
The two men who are widely believed to have been the shooters in Hamad’s death, Kemel “Blackie” Barakat and Mejid Hamzy, have themselves both been assassinated.
Police believe Hamad was potentially involved in multiple murders, including the shooting death of Walid “Wally” Ahmad at Bankstown Centro Shopping Centre in 2016.
He was previously acquitted at trial of the 2007 murder of Mohamad Alahmad.
Police are hunting three men who stormed the home before ransacking the flat and fleeing on Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to Sturt Ave in Georges Hall shortly before 4am following reports of a home invasion.
Officers were the men forced entry to the granny flat at the rear of a home.
The intruders confronted Assad, 35, before assaulting him and ransacking the home.
A crime scene has been established which is being forensically examined by specialist officers.
Detectives have commenced an investigation into the incident.
Inquiries continue.
