Masood Zakaria: Alameddine network member disqualified from driving

He’s the mystery underworld figure who managed to elude cops for months and fled the country — but former bikie Masood Zakaria has one big problem waiting for him if he comes home.

The Hamzy v Alameddine Sydney gang war

The state’s most wanted man will have some trouble getting around if he ever decides to return to Australia after a court banned him from driving this week.

Masood Zakaria, who reportedly stowed away on a ship to Lebanon last month, left Sydney with multiple criminal cases currently before the courts.

One of those was for negligent driving last year that has since seen him disqualified from getting behind the wheel for six months and fined $600.

The feared Alameddine crime family general’s name was called twice at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday, once at 9.38am and again at 10.22am.

Once represented by high-profile criminal lawyer Zemerai Khatiz, he is understood to be no longer acting for him as there was no one to answer his name or explain in court where the underworld figure was.

It was one of several charges Zakaria was facing at the time he fled the country.

He has been missing since December 2021, lying low after it was revealed he was wanted for the failed hit on rival Ibrahem Hamze last year.

Instead Joseph “Jo Fresh” Vokai, 26, was charged with conspiring to murder the new leader of the Hamzy clan.

Samuel John Rokomaqisa, 32, was also charged with conspire and agree to murder after police allege his DNA was found the Mercedes getaway car located by police.

Zakaria, on the other hand, remains on the run but has another case listed at Parramatta Local Court later this month.

His plush property at Greystanes is also back on the market after being passed in at auction last month.

The NSW Crime Commission is seeking the proceeds after his wife Azza pleaded guilty to lying for a $1m home loan to fund the purchase.
