Gangs squad police investigating exiled bikie boss Mark Buddle’s criminal empire have seized documents relating to 10 properties owned by members of his wife’s family.
The properties include five which have been bought and sold, with some being redeveloped over the past 18 months by one of Buddle’s brothers-in-law, Daniel Ter Wisscha, 32, or his company Knox Investments.
The documents were among the material seized in raids by the national anti-gangs squad in a joint operation by NSW and federal police on the Ter Wisscha family’s Flemington Markets trucking business earlier this month.
Detectives said it was part of a “relentless” effort targeting Buddle’s networks and ongoing influence in Australia.
Fugitive Comanchero boss Buddle, 42, is still believed to be in Turkey and unable to return to his luxury home on Dubai’s Palm Islands.
There is no suggestion any of Buddle’s in-laws, including his wife Mel Ter Wisscha, have knowledge of his criminal activities or engaged in wrongdoing.
The properties across Baulkham Hills, Winston Hills, Kings Langley, Dundas Valley and a family holiday home at Boat Harbour near Port Stephens were named in the search warrant.
The warrant states it “was issued on the basis that the eligible issuing officer found that there were reasonable grounds for the issue of the warrant and, in particular, that the applicant had reasonable grounds to believe that there were on the premises (the documents) which were connected to the (offences) of knowingly deal in the proceeds of crime, publish false and misleading material to obtain advantage, participate in criminal group.”
Police also seized mobile phones and computers in the raids on Daniel Ter Wisscha’s Baulkham Hills home and the offices of Flemington Unloading Services, which has served the markets for more than three decades.
Property records show Knox Investments, of which Daniel Ter Wisscha is sole director, bought one of the properties in Braddock Place, Baulkham Hills, in January 2020 for $1.18 million. He redeveloped it and added an up-market granny flat which is up for rent.
In June this year, Ter Wisscha and his wife Rikka sold a property in Kempe Parade, Kings Langley for $1.42 million. They paid $1.l million for it in March last year.
The couple also owns the neighbouring property in Clerke Place, Kings Langley.
Knox Investments bought a house in Fallon Street, Rydalmere in January for $1.2 million.
The family’s holiday home, owned since 2007, recently underwent a $750,000 upgrade.
The raids were led by police from Strike Force Gildi, formed in 2020 to investigate criminal activities of associates of the Comanchero outlaw gang.
