Police are hunting the driver of a ute involved in a high-speed chase through Sydney’s southwest, where it collided with police vehicles and even caused a parked car to tumble off a cliff overnight.

Officers attempted to stop a grey Ford Ranger shortly before 1am after it was detected exceeding the speed limit on Alfords Point Rd in Menai.

When it failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated.

Police continued to monitor the car’s movements for 15 minutes as it was driven through suburbs including Bangor, Alfords Point and Illawong.

The pursuit continued along Fowler Road in Illawong, where the vehicle reversed into the front of a police car before crashing into several parked vehicles on Fowlers Road.

One of the impacted vehicles was pushed through a garage door, while another was forced over a cliff edge, coming to rest below after plunging about 10m.

The driver fled on foot, but the 25-year-old passenger was arrested at the scene.

He was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with being a passenger in a stolen car.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on September 5.

Anyone who may have information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
