A mother-of-two was allegedly murdered, wrapped up in plastic and dumped in bushland by her lover — who then called police to report her missing and continued to operate the dog walking business they owned together.

Shereen Kumar’s death has shocked loved ones, with her ex-husband and father of her children Gurpreet Beehan remembering her as a “strong woman” and “wonderful mother”.

“I had to have the hardest conversation of my life with my kids before,” Mr Beehan said.

He said Ms Kumar, 42, had established a successful life in Australia after moving from Fiji but was proud of nothing more than her children, aged 12 and seven.

Vincent Carlino, her current boyfriend, was on Saturday charged by NSW Police with Ms Kumar’s murder.

The breakthrough came three days after 37-year-old Carlino reported Ms Kumar missing, leading police to search near their home at Dural, in Sydney’s northwest, before the discovery of her body in shrub just off Laurie Rd — a few streets away from where they lived.

According to police, Carlino and Ms Kumar had an “on and off” relationship that began in April 2021, involved a break-up and an apprehended violence order only a few months later, before a reconciliation and move to Dural.

Police now allege the relationship ended with Carlino killing Ms Kumar, before wrapping her in plastic and tape, and dumping her.

The Daily Telegraph can also reveal police will allege evidence found on Carlino’s phone led them to the spot where they found Ms Kumar.

Carlino is understood to have been the one to raise the alarm that his girlfriend was missing on Thursday, a day after he apparently last saw her walk out of their home in her pyjamas and never return.

Police will allege in reality, Carlino killed her some time after 9pm on Wednesday, July 20.

It was about 2.30am on Sunday when, with Carlino in custody, officers knocked on the door of Mr Beehan’s home to tell him that his ex-wife had been found dead.

He believes he spoke to her just hours before she died: “It was 7pm that we had our last conversation, so from the (police) report they say she went missing at 9pm.

“I spoke to her regularly, once or twice a day, but it was always about our kids. She didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to her kids.

“I know the last thing she would have been thinking about were her kids — they were her everything, she was a wonderful mother.”

Carlino did not apply for bail in court on Sunday, with high-profile solicitor Elias Tabchouri saying his client was “very concerned” about the allegations.

About 5.50pm on Saturday the grim discovery of Ms Kumar’s body was found just off Laurie Rd in Dural.

Police arrested 37-year-old Carlino and took him to Hornsby Police Station, where he was charged with murder.

Investigators and forensics officers were seen in Dural on Sunday examining the scene whereh Ms Kumar’s body was found.

More to come.
