A man faces a hefty fine for refusing to say who was behind the wheel of a luxury convertible filmed conducting risky burnouts in the middle of the day near pedestrians in Sydney’s CBD.
The alarming footage from the intersection of Phillip and Bent streets shows a line of luxury cars watching on as the driver of the white Ferrari Portofino accelerates through a red light before spinning dangerously, with smoke billowing from the tyres.
A man filming the video on Sunday, May 23 is heard shouting “This is how it’s done’’, as children and a parent, a bus and car driver were forced to wait near the risky display.
Glenbrook man Daniel Milton Souris, 46, who was represented by his lawyer George Azzi at Sydney’s Downing Centre Court on Tuesday, told the court his client pleaded guilty to not disclosing the menacing driver’s details.
Police said they were given the footage and investigations revealed the car was hired by Souris. But when visited by police, he would not say who was driving the car. He was charged with responsible person/custodian not disclose driver’s details and given a Court Attendance Notice on July 2 this year.
Senior police expressed disbelief at the dangerous actions of the driver.
