A man is in hospital and a police investigation is underway after three men stormed into a south Sydney home and attacked a man with a machete.

A man has been attacked with a machete in a terrifying assault at a south Sydney home.
Emergency services were called to Carvers Road, Oyster Bay, just before midnight on Thursday, following reports of a serious assault.
On arrival, officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command were told a 20-year-old man had been assaulted by three men who were armed with a machete.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man lacerations to his head and hand before taking him to hospital in a stable condition.
Officers established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the incident, with the men involved taking off before police arrived.
