Police kicked in the door of a mansion in one of Sydney’s richest suburbs on Friday during an alleged cocaine bust.
Australian Federal Police carried out the dramatic raid in Holt St, Double Bay, where they arrested Jonathan Lindsay Fagan as part of a wider investigation into cocaine trafficking that involved undercover cops disguised in hi-vis work wear.
Investigators followed the 40-year-old to the mansion after allegedly observing him collect a bag containing cocaine during a dead drop at a car park at Sydney Park in Alexandria earlier in the day.
According to property records, Fagan’s parents own the property, which was purchased for $4 million in 2007.
It is understood it will not be alleged that Fagan imported the cocaine, only that he was performing some sort of transporting role.
Armed officers dressed in riot gear were seen escorting Fagan away from the property in cuffs, before he was loaded into a waiting paddy wagon.
While the raid was going down, NSW Police were also called to the scene by worried neighbours who reported gunshots, however it was just the sound of police kicking in a door.
On Friday night, Fagan was being interviewed by police but had not been charged.
An AFP spokesman said, “There is no current threat to the community.”
“Further comment will be made at an appropriate time,” the spokesman said.
