Lawyer Ashlyn Nassif carries a Gucci bag as she reports for bail

Glamorous lawyer Ashlyn Nassif has emerged from her mother’s Concord home to report for bail as her career comes under scrutiny from the NSW Law Society.

The lawyer daughter of besieged property developer Jean Nassif emerged from home to report for bail as the NSW Law Society monitors her future in the legal profession.

Ashlyn Nassif, 27, left her mother’s Concord home where she and her fiance have been ordered to live under strict bail conditions imposed after she appeared in court last week.

NSW Law Society rules require Ms Nassif, as with all lawyers charged with a serious criminal offence, to notify them within seven days and provide court documents.

She is allowed to practice as a lawyer until any charges are decided.

Ms Nassif was charged on February 28 after detectives from the Organised Crime Squad raided four properties, including her legal firm EA Legal and the home and workplace of her father, who is the founding director of building giant Toplace.

She has been charged with fraud amid allegations she supplied fake contracts to secure a $150 million loan from Westpac to help her father build the $900 million five-tower Skyview development at Castle Hill.

Sporting a Gucci handbag, Ms Nassif left the home in a white 4WD along with a female friend who arrived moments earlier carrying takeaway coffees for the pair.

Ms Nassif and her fiance Christopher had begun making plans for their wedding, believed to be in June, but the no expense spared event is now in doubt with her pending court case.

She has to report daily to Burwood Police Station as part of her bail conditions and cannot contact 24 people linked to the proceedings.

The law firm is named after the initials of Ashlyn and her lawyer sister Evelyn Nassif Helou, 31.

Details of the sisters and other lawyers with the firm have been removed from the business’ website after Ms Nassif’s arrest.

There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by anyone else at the firm which has continued to represent Toplace and Jean Nassif in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Ms Nassif has not entered pleas to the two charges of dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception and publishing false or misleading material to obtain an advantage. There are no Law Society proceedings against her.

The Downing Centre Local Court heard last week that police will allege they have lawfully intercepted telephone conversations with Mr Nassif saying the contracts were “fake”, “never going to be completed anyway” and that the deposits were his own money.

Mr Nassif, who is understood to be in Singapore, posted a photograph yesterday of himself on a Facetime call to his three younger children, who he shares with second wife Nissy.

Of lawyers who are charged or convicted of criminal offences, the society’s website states: “The Law Society Council will investigate the matter to determine whether or not you are a fit and proper person to hold an Australian practising certificate and whether any discretionary conditions need to be imposed on your practise.”

A statement from The NSW Law Society said ‘The Society is prohibited by the Uniform Law from commenting on matters under consideration, or confirming whether particular matters are being considered. Outcomes of the Society’s disciplinary processes are reported on the OLSC disciplinary register in accordance with the Uniform Law.’
