The son of murdered gang mum Lametta Fadlallah was convicted over a drug house where police uncovered cocaine, MDMA, guns and other drugs.
Abraham Derbas, whose father is Sydney gangster Shadi Derbas, was sentenced to a 20- month prison term in Burwood Local Court over the raids on the Bankstown house in March 2021 but was allowed to serve his sentence in the community.
Derbas was arrested after officers from the Dial-a-Dealer investigation – also known as Strike Force Northrop – spotted him going in and out of a rental property.
On March 10, 2021, the officers watched Derbas approach the side window of a parked car and pass something to the driver, court documents said.
The officers pulled the car over soon after and found it had been a cocaine deal.
Two days later, police watched Derbas and another man enter the property and raided it once the two men were inside.
They seized cocaine, MDMA, a pill press, cannabis, cash and a sawn off shotgun.
Derbas was charged with 17 offences drug supply and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
When the matter went to Burwood Local Court, negotiations from his lawyer, Benjamin Goh, resulted in Derbas pleading guilty to two of the charges, including supplying 68g of cocaine and dealing with $6700 that was the proceeds of crime.
Magistrate Richard Funston sentenced Derbas to 20 months in jail from March 30 but allowed him to serve it in the community via an intensive corrections order.
Mr Funston ordered Derbas to abstain from drug use and gambling or risk serving the sentence in prison.
Police are investigating the murder of Derbas’ mother, who was executed in a double shooting as she sat in the back of a car on her Panania driveway on August 13.
Ms Fadlallah’s hairdresser, Amy Hazouri, who was in the back seat, was also shot and killed by the assassin.
Two other people were in the front seat and unharmed but left deeply traumatised.
It’s not suggested the shooting had anything to do with Derbas.
