Sydney mum Lametta Fadlallah’s Revesby shooting death would have been ‘a $500k hit’

Underworld sources believe whoever took out the hit on slain mum Lametta Fadlallah last week had a grudge to bear and $500k to spare.

New CCTV emerges following Revesby double murder

The fee for gunning down Sydney gangland mother Lametta Fadlallah was at least half a million dollars, according to underworld figures and sources close to the investigation.

And the brutal and indiscriminate nature of the attack, which also killed an innocent bystander, was due to the fact the attack was motivated by revenge.

Several underworld sources believe that Ms Fadlallah was forced into speaking to authorities in a bid to protect a loved one – and then paid for it with her life.

Ms Fadlallah died a week ago alongside hairdresser Amy El Hazzouri when they were shot getting into a car at Panania with a 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man.

Their killers tapped the window, pushed the young girl’s head out of the way and fired about a dozen bullets into the back of the car.

“Just look at it, there is no way this is over money,” one source said.

“It was pretty graphic to tap the window and then to look them in the eyes ... and that poor girl (in the front seat), she will never recover.

“That is why (it’s because) she was a snitch.”

Another source familiar with the investigation said police were looking for two shooters and that the four-man operation to take out Ms Fadlallah would have cost at least $500,000.

A second source confirmed that estimate.

“There were four people there, two shooters, $100,000 for each person, and then you’re talking $25,000 per gun, and then the cars,” they said.

It comes as the new man in Ms Fadlallah’s life is understood to be struggling to come to terms with her death.

Businessman Adel Dayoub had been dating Ms Fadlallah for about three months but had struck up a friendship a year ago when she was a regular customer at his restaurant.

Mr Dayoub is an honest man, not a criminal, and neither he nor his restaurant have anything to do with the underworld.

“He didn’t pick up anything (about her problems),” a source close to the family said.

“People know that he is not involved.

“They met at his restaurant and one thing led to another and they have started talking and dating but it was early days.”

Ms Fadlallah and the others in the car were on their way to that restaurant when the gunmen struck last week.

The mother-of-two has been mingling with Sydney’s underworld for the better part of 30 years, having twice married gangsters.

In the early 2000s she married Shadi Derbas before marrying standover man Helal Safi, who died last year.

Another underworld source said Ms Fadlallah had been involved in several “drug rips” on dealers around Sydney with Safi when they were together.

She leaves behind son Abraham Derbas from her first marriage, while Kings Cross identity Safi was linked to several infamous crimes in Sydney over the past two decades before he died.

His last encounter with the police was a 2020 charge of possessing a firearm, after his home was raided while a member of the Comanchero was staying there.

However, Safi had split with Ms Fadlallah by then, and he was arrested with the new woman in his life.

The dramatic raid saw the bulging 200kg criminal forced to the floor at gunpoint by police.

Police are still zeroing in the motive for the 16th and 17th gangland killings, with Ms El Hazzouri now the third innocent victim of the conflict.

Mustapha Naaman was killed in a case of mistaken identity last year because he looks similar to Ibrahem Hamze, while Toufik Hamze was gunned down sitting in the same ute as his gangster son Salim.
