A family of six was rushed to hospital in serious but stable conditions after being exposed to a carbon monoxide leak inside their car on a rural road near the Blue Mountains National Park.
All three arms of emergency services were called to the scene on Bells Line of Road at Kurrajong Heights on Saturday, just after 4pm, to reports of a family of six feeling sick inside their vehicle.
This masthead understands the family was found unconscious inside their vehicle by bystanders, who raised the alarm, but were conscious and breathing by the time paramedics arrived.
It is also understood a problem inside the car caused the leak.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the family included two girls, two boys, and a man and woman, both in their 30s.
He said three people were taken to Hawkesbury Hospital and the other three were taken to Nepean Hospital, all in serious but stable conditions.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said two fire trucks and six firefighters were called to the scene, along with rural firefighters.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said police also attended as a precaution, but were not needed.
