The mother of slain schoolgirl Charlise Mutten will remain on conditional bail at a Campbelltown rehabilitation centre ahead of her next court appearance on a home invasion and gun theft charge allegedly linked to the death of her daughter.

Nine-year-old Charlise was allegedly killed by a gunshot while staying with her mother Kallista Mutten’s fiance Justin Stein at his parents’ multimillion-dollar estate Wildenstein, at Mt Wilson, in January.

The little girl was first reported missing before a massive police search found her body stuffed inside a barrel near the Colo River four days later.

Stein, 31, has been charged with her murder.

Police will allege Mutten, 39, helped Stein break into the Sylvan Close homestead, which is just a stone’s throw from Wildenstein, six months before Charlise’s death and stole two rifles, along with a large amount of silverware and a set of binoculars.

The guns were described as a bolt-action magazine fed BSA .22 calibre rifle and a Winchester Lever Action 3030 rifle in court documents.

Police would not say if one of the guns was used in Charlise’s alleged murder, but confirmed a post mortem found she died from a single shot from a small-calibre firearm.

Mutten was arrested last month and charged with break, enter and steal in company before being released on police bail under the condition she live at Eagle Vale rehabilitation Odyssey House.

She chose not to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on Thursday for the first mention of the case and is yet to enter a plea to the charge.

The case was adjourned to Katoomba Local Court for mention on August 22 and Mutten’s bail was continued.
