An infamous Covid protest pest is fighting to be released from prison after breached court orders about an accused paedophile at a lockdown rally.

It comes after sources say he has been designated a national security interest, a prison classification that could cut him off from the outside world.

Simeon Boikov, known as Aussie Cossack, is a Youtuber popular among anti-lockdown protesters, conspiracy theorists, Russian war supporters and wannabe constitutional experts, and others.

He reaches tens of thousands videoing his attendance at lockdown protests and confrontations with NSW Police and news crews.

It was during one speech at a lockdown rally in May 2022 that Boikov live streamed one of his fiery speeches, a police fact sheet reads.

“Now guys, let’s make a very scandalous announcement here as well,” Boikov tells a crowd of demonstrators.

Boikov speaks about a paedophile who had been charged and was before the courts but whose name had been suppressed.

“You know what – I’m gonna say his name, should I say his name?” Boikov tells the crowd.

The crowd yells in approval, the fact sheet reads, and Boikov names the accused paedophile.

Last week, a court found Boikov had twice breached the court suppression order and sentenced him to six months without parole and a full sentence of 10 months in prison.

Suppression orders over the names of alleged paedophiles are not uncommon, but are not designed to simply protect the alleged offender.

Many judges, imposing suppressions, note they are designed to make it harder to identify alleged victims or potential victims.

Boikov is now appealing the ruling in the NSW District Court with a hearing set down for September.

Outside court, supporters called Boikov a political prisoner and “honourable man” and waved the red ensign flag; the symbol of a conspiracy movement that believes the Australian government isn’t real.

His wife, lifestreaming on his YouTube channel, said she was devastated by the sentence and thanked supporters who had donated more than $20,000 to his legal campaign.

“The Aussie Cossack is now in Long Bay Correctional facility, he is not allowed any visitors because of his status, he has been declared a national security threat,” she told viewers.

Sources have confirmed Boikov has been given the classification of National Security Interest which comes with various restrictions on contact and placements while an inmate.

Boikov boasts, on his channel, claims the Russian government is calling for his release from prison.

His 4WD has been filmed cruising around Sydney with a “Z” taped on the side, a symbol of the Russian army in Ukraine as well as the Eureka flag.

Boikov remains before the courts on driving and Covid breach allegations.
