Hundreds gather to farewell slain Bondi Junction bikie Alen Moradian

Raptor squad police officers have searched the cars of mourners who attended the funeral of slain Comanchero bikie Alen Moradian, who was executed in Bondi Junction last week.

Bondi Junction shooting, underworld figure the target

Mourners who turned out to a farewell slain Comanchero bikie have been stopped by the NSW Police Raptor Squad as they left his funeral.

Alen Moradian, 48, was killed last Tuesday when two gunmen shot him dead in the underground car park of his Bondi Junction unit block.

Moradian was farewelled in extravagant style at St. Hurmizd Assyrian Cathedral in Greenfield Park on Wednesday, with hundreds gathering to remember the man who had long been a crime figure.

A large contingent of Comanchero bikies were in attendance, including Bemir Saracevic who made the trip up from Melbourne.

Swarms of police and security guards drove up and down nearby streets throughout the service while others were stationed along Greenfield Road and in the neighbouring Greenfield Park Shopping Village.

The service was over in 40 minutes with Moradian’s casket driven out of the church gates at 11.45am, followed by three black cars.

As the procession of cars turned the corner, some were immediately pulled over by Raptor Squad police officers with lights and sirens, who then began to search the boots, bonnets and throughout the car.

Moradian was shot dead in the underground carpark of his unit block as he got in his car to go to the gym about 8.15am last Tuesday.

Two gunmen had been lying in wait and in a hail of seven bullets made him the eighteenth victim of Sydney’s ongoing underworld war.

Those who turned out to remember Moradian on Wednesday morning were mostly dressed in black and wearing dark designer sunglasses and surgical masks.

They hugged each other tightly, shook hands and kissed as they walked into the grounds of the large Western Sydney church.

Men, many in hooded coats with their heavily tattooed hands in their pockets, lined up in single file behind Moradian’s wooden, flower draped coffin as it was carried into the Assyrian church on Wednesday morning.

His wife Natasha Moradian, once jailed alongside him, was seen being comforted by those in attendance.

Many in luxury cars arrived carrying associates of the slain gangster, with a security detail wearing black suits and headsets standing guard at the front of the church.

Guests were quick to clear out of the area, some swiftly picked up in cars, others pacing down neighbouring roads.

Moradian was well aware that his lifestyle choices and involvement in the underworld made him a marked man, having been warned by NSW Police in August 2022 about intelligence they had regarding a bounty on his head.

Following this he moved out of his family home in an effort to protect his loved ones.

He regularly moved between high-rise CBD apartments, hoping the security features of such buildings would provide him protection.

When two gunmen snuck into the basement carpark last Tuesday morning, he never stood a chance.

He was in jail with Fares Abounader, the first victim of the war, and a fellow Comanchero bikie.

While behind bars he had also come to know Mahmoud “Brownie” Ahmad, who was shot dead last April.

Their relationship was not a friendly one however, with Moradian being an extortion victim of Ahmad’s – leading to rumours he had funded part of his execution.

Moradian’s wife had been in business with Lametta Fadlallah, killed last August, while he had partied in a CBD hotel room with Marvin Oraiha – the 24-year-old man shot dead at Elizabeth Hills in May this year.
