His white coffin covered in flowers and orange ribbon, little Jayden El Jer made the journey to his final resting place with his shattered loved ones sharing tears and hugs.
The tragedy of last week was still raw for hundreds at St Charbels in Punchbowl on Friday as a band played him into the packed church full of emotion.
Many wiped away tears as rain cleared for the few precious moments Jayden’s family watched while his coffin was carried aloft by loved ones, up the steps and into the building.
Jayden’s coffin, adorned with a picture of him smiling away, was topped with dozens of gerberas as traditional Lebanese music played.
Before that though, a sheer silence fell around a bustling part of western Sydney as the hearse arrived accompanied by close family.
The nearby streets were full with members of the public coming to terms with the tragedy also wanting to pay their respects as trumpets played the coffin into the church.
His death has stunned two communities, his home suburb of Granville and the small township just outside of Parkes where he sadly lost his life.
Jayden tragically died last Friday evening, after the car being driven by his father Joseph was washed into raging waters at a flooded creek crossing near the town of Tullamore, outside of Parkes.
Joseph and his wife Pam Hadchity were able to grab Jayden’s little brother Bachir and his little sister Valentina from their safety seats, before clinging to trees as they screamed for help.
Jayden, who turned five in March, was tragically trapped in the vehicle as it quickly submerged into the flooded creek.
The family spent their final day together at Dubbo Zoo, after travelling to their family property at Tullamore from Granville for the school holidays.
In one of the final images taken of Jayden his father wrote that he was “a blessing from the heavens”.
“You make me proud, glad, happy and I will always be your biggest fan love you so much,” his mother also wrote.
