A young woman was allegedly drunk when she veered her $600,000 car onto the wrong side of a busy road in Sydney’s east and collided with a Mercedes, leaving the driver in a serious condition.
CCTV captured the shocking moment 23-year-old LanLan Yang crossed into oncoming traffic on New South Head Road, and crashed headfirst into local Rose Bay chauffeur George Plassaras.
Mr Plassaras runs Dakota Limousines, which is often used by celebs including radio king Kyle Sandilands.
Yang can be seen exiting her Rolls Royce SUV after the collision at 3.30am, before getting back in the driver’s seat and then checking on Mr Plassaras via the passenger side of his crushed vehicle. She is then seen running down New South Head Road before returning a minute later with another person.
Worried witnesses made panicked calls to triple-0, as Mr Plassaras yelled for help.
The 52-year-old was trapped in his Mercedes van for up to 30 minutes before he was freed by Police Rescue and by Fire and Rescue NSW.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition with hip injuries.
The Telegraph understands Mr Plassaras underwent surgery on Saturday afternoon for treatment of his injuries.
Yang was not injured in the collision, and was subjected to a roadside breath test when police arrived, which returned a positive result.
The 23-year-old – who was dressed in a pink dress and hat – was arrested and put into the back of a police wagon before she was taken to Waverley Police Station, where she allegedly refused to undergo a breath analysis.
She was charged with cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle and refuse or fail to submit to breath analysis.
Yang was granted strict bail by police, ordered to surrender her passport, not to drive a motor vehicle, and stay at her Waverley mansion between the hours of 8pm and 6am.
New South Head Road remained a crime scene for several hours on Saturday morning, as the crumpled vehicles were towed to a police holding yard for examination.
Mr Plassaras’ vehicle was completely squashed at the front, with the airbags still partially inflated on the driver’s side. Yang’s Rolls Royce was so badly damaged that you could no longer tell the make and model of the luxury car.
She will face Downing Centre Local Court on August 15.
