Highway patrol motorcycle cop charged with negligent driving after crash at Mandalong
A police officer will face court following an investigation into a crash which seriously injured the cop and a second motorcyclist at Lake Macquarie.

A serving police officer will face court on a charge of negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm after an internal investigation into a crash between the cop’s bike and a second motorcycle at Mandalong.
A critical incident investigation was launched into the October 4 crash on Mandalong Road, near Deaves Road, after the two motorcycles had collided about 4.40pm.
The civilian rider, 69, was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital with serious leg injuries while the male senior constable, 36, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital.
A crime scene was established by Lake Macquarie police and the investigation taken over by Tuggerah Lakes police district.
“Following extensive inquiries, the senior constable – attached to Traffic & Highway Patrol Command – was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice today, for the offence of negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm,’’ police said in a statement on Tuesday.
The officer is due to appear at Toronto Local Court on May 9.
